Hi, I’m Darlene Hatfield.  Welcome to Pumpkinberry Designs, a fun and friendly mix of fabric and paint!  This website is the culmination of about 40 years of crafting and creating experience, beginning with sewing (yes, Barbie doll clothes, sewn by hand!) and oil painting (my Mom was very brave to tackle that with a six year old!!), going through several other incarnations, and progressing right back around to sewing and painting!

When I was in high school I made most of my own clothes.  That was when I started experimenting with altering and creating clothing patterns to achieve the look I was after, which was a great training ground for the design work I’m doing now.

I got away from sewing for many years…my poor old Kenmore died and I didn’t replace it.  I spent those years doing ceramics and learning all the dry brushing techniques that look so fabulous.  This was also the time when I learned how to paint eyes…and all those eyelashes!  I have incorporated many ceramic techniques into my fabric painting, and I think the result is fun and not too hard to learn.

My true love in crafting is painting faces…and cute rules!  All of my patterns are simple to sew, leaving plenty of time to spend doing what I love best!
